General F.A.Q.

Postby Quinn » Sun Jan 24, 2010 3:19 pm

Q: Why is my phone company not supported?
A: There are a lot of reasons, but for the most part because I have not implemented they company yet. If you want to see your company added, post it in the feedback. I will try to add as many major companies that people ask for. Another essential part of adding a new company is testing it. If you offer to help test out your company, you will see much quicker turnaround times.

Q: Why is there a character limit?
A: Honestly, I don’t completely understand this. It seems to really vary due to the company and phone you have. The overall effect is messages longer than 160 characters just don’t work well sometimes. I have done everything I can to make them work, and they sort of do. Basically I have changed the Anti-Spam system, so you can send a few texts in a short amount of time, thus making it possible to send “multi page” by sending single messages just one after another. There are also other systems in place, to try to help out, but under the current system it if just very hard. You will find they may be received out of order.

Q: I have AT&T, and every message arrives from a new number, thus not keeping the conversation form.
A: Yes I know and I suffer from the same problem. With this problem, there is just nothing I can do. It is all how AT&T handles the messages TxtBack sends. I hope you are able to handle it and still enjoy TxtBack. Currently this is only a problem with AT&T. Sorry.

Q: What is this Purdue menu thing?
A: If you are a Purdue University Student (such as I) you can text ‘menu’ to TxtBack, and you will receive instructions on getting the dinning court menus for the next meal! It is really cool and you should try it right now!

Q: You are awesome; can I be your girlfriend?
A: Yes

Okay, well... exactly how do you use this? I mean, I have no clue where to even look to start using this program?
